What We Treat

Speech Language Pathologists are registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologist of Ontario (CASLPO). We provide evidenced-based treatment to support speech, language, social communication, literacy and AAC needs across development. We offer a full range of speech and language services tailored to each child’s unique communication strengths and needs.

Early Intervention +
Early intervention supports communication development during the critical early years (birth to preschool). Therapy focuses on building foundational skills through play-based, family-centered strategies that promote long-term success.
Gestalt Language Processing +
Gestalt language processors learn language in chunks or scripts rather than single words. We use evidence-based, respectful approaches to support the development of flexible, self-generated language while honouring each child’s natural communication style.
Language Delay & Disorder +
Language difficulties affect how a child understands and/or uses language. Services target vocabulary, sentence structure, comprehension, and social language to support functional communication across environments.
Literacy +
Literacy services support the development of early reading and writing skills, including phonological awareness, decoding, comprehension, and written expression, using language-based and evidence-informed approaches.
Speech Sound Production +

Motor speech disorders affect the planning, coordination, or execution of speech movements. Therapy focuses on improving speech clarity through structured, supportive, and individualized intervention.

Articulation disorders occur when a child has difficulty producing speech sounds clearly. Therapy focuses on improving sound accuracy and intelligibility so children can be better understood by others.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) +
AAC includes any tools and strategies that support communication, such as gestures, body language, picture systems, AAC devices, and sign. AAC supports language development and does not prevent spoken language. We honour all forms of communication and set AAC goals to encourage our clients express themselves authentically.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Communication +
Neurodiversity-affirming practice recognizes and respects differences in communication, learning, and interaction. Therapy prioritizes autonomy, authenticity, strengths, and meaningful participation over “normalizing” behaviours.
Autism Spectrum Disorder +
We provide individualized, neurodiversity affirming speech-language services for autistic individuals. Support may include language development, social communication, AAC, and communication partner education, always centered on the individual’s needs and identity.

Privacy Policy

At Good Company Speech & Language, your trust and privacy are our top priorities. We protect your child’s personal health information in strict accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).

Collection of Information

To provide the best possible care, we maintain a secure health record. This file includes contact and demographic details such as names, phone numbers, addresses, and dates of birth. It also contains background history including developmental milestones, medical history, and notes from teachers or doctors. Clinical records like assessments, formal reports, progress notes, and discharge summaries are securely stored alongside administrative data such as signed consents, attendance logs, and billing records.

Sharing of Information

We love collaborating to see your child succeed! With your verbal or written consent, we can share relevant information with professionals you include in your child’s Circle of Care, such as pediatricians, teachers, or occupational therapists. We never share information outside of Good Company Speech & Language without your explicit consent, except when required by law.

Legal Exceptions to Consent

By law, we must share information without your permission in rare circumstances regarding safety concerns, such as suspected child abuse or neglect under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, or imminent danger to self or others. Information must also be shared to comply with legal mandates like court orders, subpoenas, or warrants. Finally, disclosure is required for regulatory requirements, including mandatory CASLPO peer assessments, or during urgent medical emergencies.

Health Insurance Claims

When you submit a claim to your private insurer, you authorize them to verify the service. By law, insurance companies can request the patient’s name, the date and type of service, the clinician's name, and the invoiced amount without separate consent.

Obtaining Consent

In compliance with CASLPO and PHIPA, our Speech-Language Pathologists must obtain your knowledgeable consent before screening, assessing, or treating your child. Consent can be given verbally or in writing and is immediately documented in your child's file. You can learn more about these guidelines via the official Personal Health Information Protection Act and Health Care Consent Act.

Retention of Records

We store electronic records using secure, compliant systems. Following provincial regulations, files are kept for a minimum of 10 years after the date of the last appointment if the client was 18 or older. If the client was a minor during care, records are kept for 10 years after the date the client turns, or would have turned, 18 years old.

Changing Personal Health Information

You have the right to review your child's records. If you notice an error or inaccuracy, please inform your therapist. We will update the record promptly and provide you with a corrected copy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common questions about coverage, clinical standards, and operational sessions.

Are SLP services covered by OHIP? +
Private speech-language pathology services are not covered under OHIP. Your clinician can discuss publicly-funded services that may be available to you or your child.
Does insurance cover SLP services? +
Most extended health insurance plans cover pediatric speech therapy. We recommend contacting your provider to verify your specific benefits. Please note that we do not offer direct billing. You will receive an emailed receipt after each session, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Are SLP services covered by OAP? +
Yes, private speech-language pathology services are covered under the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). Speech-language pathology is explicitly approved as one of the program's Core Clinical Services. Families can use their OAP funding allotments to pay for our assessments, direct therapy sessions, and caregiver consultations. To utilize your funding here, your child must be registered with the OAP, and you will need to submit our detailed invoices and receipts to the program for reimbursement.
Do I need a doctor's referral? +
A referral is not required to access private speech-language pathology services. You are welcome to contact us directly to book a consultation, assessment, or therapy session.
What payment methods do you accept? +
We accept credit cards (VISA and Mastercard) as well as e-transfers. Payment is required at the time of your scheduled appointment. We require that a credit card be kept on file through our secure payment portal.
What are your rates? +
Our fee structure aligns with the guidelines recommended by the Ontario Speech and Language Association (OSLA). Please see our pricing page for more information regarding our fees.
How many assessment sessions will we need? +
Assessments usually require one clinical hour. This session includes a parent report and a variety of play-based activities where the SLP evaluates your child's speech, language, communication, and play skills. Depending on your child's needs, standardized tools may also be used. Your therapist will inform you if your child requires additional assessment sessions. Additional assessment sessions are billed at a lower rate than the first treatment session.
What is a “clinical hour”? +

A clinical hour accounts for all billed time allocated to your assessment or treatment session. Each session is divided into direct time, which is the face-to-face time spent with the therapist, and indirect time, which is dedicated to caregiver debriefing, preparation, documentation and clean-up.

60 minute session: 45 minutes of direct therapy + 15 minutes of indirect time

45 minute session: 35 minutes of direct therapy + 10 minutes of indirect time

30 minute session: 25 minutes of direct therapy + 5 minutes of indirect time
